THIS WEEKS HEADLINES
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leavenworth Rotary Club-"The Little Club with the Big Heart"

THIS WEEKS PROGRAM

Leavenworth Winter Sports Club Ski History 1928-1972
Our speaker is our own Dean Johnson

This is a comprehensive, narrated slide show by Dean Johnson and Kjell Bakke recorded some years ago about the beginning and intermediate years of the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club. The pictures are scans of original scrapbook collections by Margaret Miller, operator of the concession kitchen at Ski Hill Lodge for many years. She knew and loved the Leavenworth Ski Hill kids that included her daughter, Jackie Miller DeGroot. The narration is by a participant in those early days of ski jumping, Kjell Bakke. Kjell is the son of Magnus Bakke who was a major part of the ski-jumping, Leavenworth Winter Sports Club, success, as well as one of the primary designers of Mission Ridge Ski Area.

RLI is the best training vehicle we currently have in Rotary, since it creates the kind of engaged and motivated leaders that your club will need to move forward. We are still recognized as one of the best districts for membership growth in all of Zones 24 and 32 (that's 34 districts!). It is because we are one of the most active in RLI, and the leaders in sponsoring new Rotary members are often RLI grads!

A bit of humor-short & sweet
I was in a job interview today when the manager handed
me his laptop and said "I want you to try to sell this to me."

So I put in under my arm, and walked out
of the building and went home.

Eventually, he called my mobile and said
"Bring back my laptop right now!"

I said "$200 dollars and it's yours."

Reminder to Committee Chairs
Please make sure you keep attendance and date
of your meeting an submit to Marggie...this is important.
